Set in 1967 Los Angeles, the film follows a widow named Alice Zander (Elizabeth Reaser) and her two daughters, Lina (Annalise Basso) and Doris (Lulu Wilson), who fake mediumship for a living. When Alice brings home a Ouija board to add authenticity to her work, they accidentally open the door to a dark force. Doris becomes possessed and begins to act strangely, revealing terrifying mysteries in their home.
Directed by Mike Flanagan, the film skillfully builds a haunting, spooky atmosphere with chilling scenes and a tight story. Ouija: Origin of Evil is rated much higher than the previous film thanks to its sophisticated storytelling, impressive acting and deep character development.
