Alienoid: The Return to the Future (2024) is a South Korean science fiction action film directed by Choi Dong-hoon. It is the sequel to the 2022 film Alienoid and continues the story of alien prisoners, time travel, and a mystical sword. The film stars Ryu Jun-yeol, Kim Tae-ri, and Kim Woo-bin.
The story picks up where the first film left off, with Lee Ahn (played by Kim Tae-ri) trapped in the 14th century. Meanwhile, in the present day, an alien substance known as haava begins to detonate, threatening to destroy Earth
As Lee Ahn searches for the sword, she encounters various characters, including Thunder (played by Kim Woo-bin), a humanoid robot, and Mureuk (played by Ryu Jun-yeol), a swordsman with a hidden secret. They are pursued by mages from Samgaksan and other adversaries who seek the sword for their own purposes.
In the present day, Min Gae-in (played by Lee Hanee), an accidental witness to the alien events, begins to investigate the incidents. With only 48 minutes before the haava detonates, Lee Ahn must return to the future and stop the impending disaster.
The film concludes with all secrets revealed, setting the stage for future conflicts. Alienoid: The Return to the Future combines elements of action, comedy, and time-travel science fiction, offering an exciting continuation of the story.
