Percy Jackson is a teenager living in New York who struggles with dyslexia and ADHD. However, his life changes completely when he discovers he is a demigod, the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. Everything begins when he’s attacked by a mythological creature and learns he’s involved in an ancient conflict between the gods.
After the attack, Percy is taken to Camp Half-Blood, a safe haven for the children of the Olympian gods. There, he meets other demigods like Annabeth, daughter of Athena, and Grover, his protector and a satyr. Soon, Percy is falsely accused of stealing Zeus’s master bolt, which has triggered tension among the gods.
To prevent a war among the gods, Percy decides to go on a quest to find the bolt and prove his innocence. Along with Annabeth and Grover, he travels across the United States, facing monsters and solving mythological riddles. During the adventure, he also learns more about his past and his connection to the gods.
The group reaches the Underworld believing that Hades has the bolt, but they discover he is also searching for the stolen weapon. Eventually, Percy realizes that the real thief is Luke, another demigod who has been corrupted by power and wants to destroy Olympus.
Percy manages to recover the bolt and returns it to Mount Olympus, restoring peace among the gods. In the end, he rejects the offer to live with his father Poseidon in the sea, choosing instead to return to Camp Half-Blood to continue training and prepare for future challenges. His journey is only just beginning
